Who operates this

Civix IQ, LLC, a Colorado limited liability company, operates a network of government transparency services on the civicprinciples.com platform.

The services

Each service covers one government and applies the same 15 principles of good governance:

  • CouncilWatch in Colorado Springs — the Colorado Springs City Council, 9 councilmembers, scored after every meeting.
  • CommissionWatch in El Paso County — the El Paso County Board of County Commissioners, 5 commissioners, scored after every meeting.

They are commercial subscription services. A score in one market means the same thing as a score in another, because the same rubric and the same pipeline run everywhere.

How it is funded

Founder investment and subscriber revenue. We take no funding from any political party, campaign, government entity, or advocacy organization, and we do not endorse candidates, parties, or ballot measures.

Integrity Matters

Integrity Matters is a Colorado nonprofit organization, recognized (or seeking recognition) under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. It is a separate and independent organization. It does not own, operate, control, or direct the platform, and has no authority over methodology, scoring, editorial decisions, or analytical conclusions.

Under a written partnership agreement it may promote the services and receive a revenue share on subscriptions sourced through its referrals. Subscriptions are commercial transactions with Civix IQ — not charitable contributions, and not tax-deductible. The full terms are in the Disclaimer.

How our work can be checked

We publish adverse findings about named public officials, so our own work has to be checkable. Three routes exist, and they are deliberately separate:

  • AI, Transparency & Trust — what the automated steps do, where human judgment enters, and what the analysis cannot tell you.
  • Audit Policy — how scoring can be formally reviewed, by whom, and what happens when a review finds a problem.
  • Report an Issue — for a factual error, missing context, or an incorrect classification. We review every submission and correct the underlying record when warranted.

Scores assess alignment with governance principles. They are not judgments of character, legality, or intent, and they are not an official government record.
